Terms of use
What you can expect from the site, and what it asks of you.
Using the site
StringMash is free to use, with no account. By using it you agree to these terms. If they change, the change is logged on What's new.
What you type
Everything you type into a converter is processed in your browser and isn't sent to us. The privacy page says what the site does collect, which is page views and what the ads need.
Checking the results
The converters and calculators are tested, and the facts on them are checked against published sources. Even so, the site is provided as it is, without a guarantee that every result is right. Check anything that matters before you rely on it: a subnet you're about to configure, a sum for marking, or a date that has legal weight.
The classical ciphers are history and puzzles. They're easy to break, so don't use them to protect anything secret. The JWT decoder reads a token but doesn't verify its signature, so it can't tell you a token is genuine.
Charts, text and art
The text, charts and pixel art on StringMash belong to StringMash. You're welcome to print the charts for a classroom, a club or your own use, and to share links to any page. Please don't republish the pages or the art on another site.
To put a working converter on your own site, use the embed page, which has the code and its own short terms.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to other sites: the sources behind a page, our sister sites oldsymbols.com and whatdoesthissymbolmean.com, and shops on the Morse bracelet page. Those sites have their own terms, and we don't control what's on them.
