Case converter

Paste your text and pick a case. The result appears in its own box, so the original is still there on the left if you change your mind. Switching back from UPPERCASE to sentence case works from what you typed, not from the capitals.

Sentence case, Title Case and Capitalise Each Word rebuild capitals, and they leave a word alone if you'd capitalised it on purpose, like NASA, iPhone or McDonald. If a whole sentence is in capitals, that's shouting, not acronyms, and it's reset.

Language rules is there for Turkish and German, where the usual rules give the wrong letter. It sits on the right on a computer; on a phone the converter uses the standard rules.

Turkish has two i's. i and İ have a dot, ı and I don't, and they're different letters. Uppercase "istanbul" with the standard rules and you get ISTANBUL, which a Turkish reader sees as a misspelling. The Turkish setting gives İSTANBUL, and lowercases ISPARTA to ısparta.

German had the opposite problem. ß had no capital, so in capitals it was written SS, and the old rules even switched to SZ where SS would change the meaning: IN MASZEN, "in moderation", against IN MASSEN, "in masses".

In 2017 the Council for German Orthography accepted a capital ẞ, and since 2024 it has been the preferred form. The standard setting still writes STRASSE, which is what most software does. The German setting writes STRAẞE.
