Making a sheet
Choose the size of the numbers being divided (2 to 5 digits) and what they're divided by: a single digit from 2 to 9, or two digits from 11 to 99. Leave Remainders off and every question comes out exactly, which suits a first lesson; turn it on once pupils are confident.
Each question is set out in the bus-stop form, the divisor outside and the number inside, with room above for the answer and below for the working.
Practise on screen
Type the answer, and any remainder after r: 12 r 3.

Checking the working
The key gives each answer, with any remainder after r. For a question a pupil got wrong, type it into the long division calculator, which draws every step of the written method, so they can see which subtraction or bring-down went astray.
Questions
Why are some answers so short?
Every question is chosen so the answer has at least two digits, so each one takes more than a single step.
Can I print the same sheet again?
Yes. Each sheet has a number, printed at the bottom. Set the same number and settings and you get the same questions, so a class can redo a sheet or a colleague can print yours.
Is there an answer key?
Yes, on a second page, unless you untick it. Print only the first page for the class and keep the key.
Are these free to copy for my class?
Yes. Print and copy them for your class, your club or your own children as often as you like.
